Contributing Author, Scientific Advisory Board, Clinical Research
Paul R. Peluso, Ph.D., is Senior Associate Dean for the College of Education and Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Florida Atlantic University. He is the author/co-author of six books and the past editor of the journal Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development.
Dr. Peluso’s therapeutic approach comes from a perspective of implementing client strengths to find unique and personalized solutions to concerns. He doesn’t see people as sick or broken, instead he believes that all behaviors, such as marijuana dependence, are indirect ways of finding solutions to what we perceive as obstacles to personal goals. His work often involves helping people to explore and question their assumptions and discover surprising alternative solutions through encouragement and empowerment.
As a trained and licensed marriage and family therapist, Dr. Peluso has had extensive experience working with individuals and families on a myriad of concerns, including drug abuse and addiction. Dr. Peluso received his Ph.D. in Counseling from Georgia State University.
